The Rainmaker (Annick Press) Clarence is so busy daydreaming he almost walks by a tap with a sign that reads “RAIN.” (The sign used to read “DRAIN” but the “D” has worn off.) He wonders if it will rain if he turns on the tap, and his theory proves to be right. Clarence meets the Rainmaker, the owner of the tap. When Clarence tries to stop the rain, he has trouble. Rogé’s funny and colourful illustrations enliven this tale of curiosity and imagination, Barbara Todd’s first children’s book. mRb
