Lobster Press has rekindled interest in the L. M Montgomery poem The Way to Slumbertown, which was first published in 1916. The story opens with a girl reading to her younger siblings at bedtime. As she reads, the whole brood imagines itself off on a journey to the magical world of dreams. The poem is replete with soft words and warm, soothing imagery. Rachel Bédard’s artwork, rich in blues, creates a dreamy mood. Look for the parallel storyline, featuring a trio of mice, which the artist has incorporated into her illustrations. mRb
